Vocabulary Learning Strategies Frequently Used by Sudanese EFL Learners at the Tertiary Level to Strengthen their Vocabulary Knowledge

The study aimed to find out the most frequent Vocabulary Learning Strategies (VLSs) that had been used by Sudanese EFL learners at Faculty of Education, Alzaiem Alazhari University. A questionnaire was designed and handled 159 in 1st year. adopted Schmitt’s (1997) taxonomy with slight changes items. There a significant agreement among them using vocabulary learning strategies expand their vocabulary. Cognitive memory were frequently used, while social least used. recommended teachers can help students become initiative take responsibility for success providing sense what are, enhance knowledge. Moreover, should present wide range both classroom-related setting self-directed learning.
